In a world where fashion dictates constant changes in rules, it can be very challenging to find and maintain your personal sense of style. Fashion is a highly profitable business; however, no matter how hard you try, you can’t ignore it. When pursuing trends, it is essential to retain your unique sense of style that will serve as your business card.

Understand what you like.

Discovering your taste can be challenging, but understanding your preferences in clothing is the most crucial part of creating your personal style. You don’t have to follow trends blindly or wear fashion pieces you’re not comfortable in. Have a clear sense of your personal likes and dislikes in clothing and accessories. Do not force yourself to wear something just because everyone else does. Remember, your style should be as unique as you are, so don’t try to blend in; just be yourself, and you will stand out from the crowd.

Create a capsule wardrobe.

When working on your signature look, it is important to have a functional set of clothes that you can match and style for everyday use. Do not chase fast fashion by constantly buying shoes and clothes that will quickly become outdated, affecting your budget and taking up space in your closet. Instead, create a capsule wardrobe – a collection of a limited number of essentials that emphasizes quality over quantity. A capsule wardrobe is a minimalistic approach to creating your personal style. You might think that it is impossible to stay trendy without constantly buying new clothes or shoes; however, you do not need to break your budget to look stylish. You can add bright and eye-catching accessories to your everyday basics and create a look that makes you stand out from the crowd. If you want a broader range of fashion items, try swapping with your friends. This way, all of you will have a chance to regularly wear something new with a budget-friendly strategy.

Discover your archetype.

In terms of style, an archetype refers to the traits that reflect both your personality and aesthetic identity. Simply put, it’s the style that naturally suits who you are. Choosing clothes based on your archetype can be a beneficial technique for improving your signature style. There are six style archetypes: Classic, Romantic, Dramatic, Natural, Creative, and Edgy. They might also be referred to as: Classic, Soft, Magnetic, Relaxed, Creative, and Polished. Different system archetypes may use various names for similar concepts. Find out which style best represents you and use it as a reference guide when refreshing your wardrobe. Also, remember not to limit yourself; every person can have a mix of different archetypes, or one archetype might change over time. Do not simply follow rules – create them.

Do not overthink.

The most important thing in improving your personal style is simply loving yourself. Many beautiful women do not wear what they like because they feel insecure about their bodies. Let me tell you that every body is unique and beautiful, and every woman can look as stylish as any fashion icon. You just have to grasp the basics of clothing styling, such as color palettes, outfit construction, and proportions. This simple knowledge can be acquired through online research or by reading a fashion guidebook. Do not wait until you achieve that “perfect body” or the desired number on the scale; start living your best life right now. Trust me, once you begin wearing clothes that you love and gain enough confidence, you might notice that your body has always been beautiful.

Dress with confidence.

When working on your outfit, do not complicate the task. Nobody will rate your look unless you’re a fashion show model. Use your own clothes and style them in a way that makes you feel confident about your appearance. Do not create strange combinations that you saw in the latest magazines; they simply might not suit you. Be bold; do not fear failed outfits. Even Hollywood celebrities have had many unsuccessful looks, even when styled by luxury designers. Step out of your comfort zone and experiment with your wardrobe. Try the boldest combinations from the clothes you already own and have fun while doing so. Fashion is an exciting game with no strict rules.

Look for inspiration.

After you grasp the basics of styling, get creative by seeking new ways to dress. Create a Pinterest board for inspiration, browse through magazines, follow a couple of fashionistas on Instagram, and observe people on the streets – just for ideas. Use your personal style as a foundation, but don’t be afraid to try new things. Rock that outfit you were too shy to try, but that was always in your head!
