Thanksgiving gives people a few days off, enjoying the crisp autumn season of Toronto. For people in relationships, the holiday is best celebrated together, as there are many different activities you and your partner can participate in. Due to the tolerable weather, these activities can be done indoor or outdoor, depending on the couple’s preference. Obviously, both people in the relationship need to decide on their preferable activities. Let’s look into them.

A long walk in the park

The leaves of trees are colorful, alongside the crisp weather and wind, so a simple stroll might be a good choice to start off the long weekend together. Select a park in which you and your partner might want to take an hour or so, walking and admiring nature’s beauty. Some choices can include High Park or Glen Stewart ravine, or a simple neighbourhood stroll, if there are trees abundant. Good exercise and private time with your partner may be all you want for Thanksgiving.

Toronto Ferry

As Torontonians know, the fall season is short in the city, and winter is just around the corner. That is why you should make the most of the decent weather, just before it becomes too snowy or cold to spend long times outdoor, especially boat rides. Go to Centre Island or another local island, take a ferry with your partner. There are restaurants on the island, as well as long trails alongside the water. You can then decide to go walking on the islands, after enjoying a scenic boat ride one last time before winter.

Toronto Turkey Trot

If you want more exercise than a slow walk, try out Toronto Turkey Trot, Triple T event, with your partner and see which one of you is the fastest. A good cause, the Turkey Trot is geared towards helping sick kids and providing health services for the public, by hosting this marathon run. What’s more, you get to enjoy some turkey as well, after running, perfect for recouping your energy.

ROM Tour

During the holiday season, the Royal Ontario Museum is a popular choice for a simple and respectful date, perfect for couples who enjoy history and culture. During Thanksgiving, the museum is dedicated to the history of Canadian thanksgiving culture, and is educational in teaching the difference between American and Canadian thanksgiving and the dates. If you and your partner might be interested in this rich background of Canada, book a date at the ROM and enjoy Thanksgiving by learning about its culture.

Pumpkin Farm Tours

Again, the weather is another factor in this activity, considering that the farmers have to start preparing for the winter for their crops and vegetables. As October may be the last month for farms to be open, take advantage of the mild weather and explore the local farms around Toronto. It may be a long haul to get there, but the scenery is beautiful, vast and open. The main crop you should admire are the pumpkin patches, a symbol of fall. Better yet, you may be allowed to carve your pumpkins, a bonus to add to your farm trip. The main point in visiting the farm together is how you and your partner can observe and realize the hard work and countryside lifestyle of a farmer, different from your personal lives in the city. This truly reflects on Canadian culture and its people.

Now that you know a few activities, decide together as a couple on which one would be the best for both of you. In a relationship, you must decide together and what interests you the most. The best thing about Thanksgiving is that you have four days, including the actual day of the holiday, to partake in any aforementioned activity you want. The main purpose of Thanksgiving is to spend time with your loved ones.
