As summer kicks off and daylight hours last longer, you will be spending more time outdoors, which is why picking the right sunglasses for your face shape and style is crucial. Granted, that can be easier said than done, that’s why we have picked a few fashionable styles to suit you this season.

This year’s trending sunglasses are bold, diverse, and full of personality. The colour trends showcased on the runways include striking shades of yellow, crisp white, and tinted brown frames. Although white frames are trending, earthy hues like beige, taupe, and soft browns are taking centre stage.

Which Sunglasses are Right for Your Face?

Sometimes, you don’t have to stick to a certain rule to try on sunglasses if you feel a style suits you; go for it. Nevertheless, it is important to ensure that the sunglasses sit comfortably on your nose and ears without falling down. Another helpful tip is to ensure that your sunglasses have 100% UV protection to shield your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays. So, which style should you go for? Consider a few options.

Round Face

If you have a round face, that means you have full cheeks and a rounded chin. In this case, you will want angular frames with a square or cat-eye look; they create balance. It’s better to avoid round frames as they make the face appear fuller.

Oblong Face

Oblong faces are longer with a straight check line; choosing an oversized frame in this case is ideal because it adds width to the face and balances its length.

Diamond Face

Characterized by their narrow foreheads and broad cheekbones, oval frames and rimless frames are ideal in this case. Avoid narrow frames that emphasize the width of the cheek.

This Year’s Trending Sunglasses

Yellow-Tinted Shades

For the spring /summer collections, butter yellow is once again taking the lead. Tinted sunglasses have long been a trending fad on the runways, but this year, several designers are incorporating stylish options into that colour scheme. The Lanvin brand has introduced signature cat-eye sunglasses that are lightweight and modern, featuring a sleek black frame.

White Frame Sunglasses

Showcased on the runways of Carolina Herrera, Alexander McQueen, and others; clean, modern aesthetic white frames are all in this year. These sunglasses can make a bold statement, especially when they are oversized. Givenchy has a fascinating collection this year, their signature 4G model with a white frame, characterized by its cat-eye shape, is stunning, to say the least.

Cat Eye Sunglasses

Cat-eye sunglasses remain an enduring trend. You don’t need to fret over which style to choose from, as most designers have a variety of shapes and styles on offer. Ever feminine, these sunglasses offer ample coverage, offering a perfect blend of femininity and style. Valentino features a stylish, retro 1970s design that is easy to wear and flatters every face shape.

Futuristic Sunglasses

Inspired by science fiction and technology, futuristic sunglasses are trending this year. With their special design, futuristic sunglasses are making a bold statement in the collections of Prada, Balenciaga, and Acne Studios. If you want to look unique, these are the sunglasses to wear; after all, they are perfect for making a cutting-edge statement. Prada has introduced a style that features wraparound fronts and is both light and comfortable to wear.

Wayfarers

Just like cat eye sunglasses, wayfarers are still an eternal trend. This year, designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Saint Laurent are adding a modern twist to the classic wayfarer design. Miu Miu has a gold-toned square frame with a sleek, low acetate brow bar, featuring an adjustable nose pad for a comfortable fit.

Aviator Sunglasses

With a rich history dating back to the 1950s, the fashion world remains enamored with the traditional aviator sunglasses. For a feminine, sleek look, designer Vehla has come up with cinnamon-coloured lens aviator sunglasses that enhances the face and flatters it.

You deserve to greet the sun in stylish shades that are modern, cool, and comfortable, so what are you waiting for? Go ahead and splurge a little on a timeless look that turns heads!
