The saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder may hold true in some situations, but what happens when the beauty in question has to do with the skin – a body part that’s visible. Everyone agrees that healthy looking skin is identifiable and can easily be separated from unhealthy skin. But before we proceed, let’s start off with the definition of fresh-looking skin.

Fresh-looking skin is not only one without blemishes or wrinkles, but is one that glows.  Great care is taken to ensure that it remains like that of a newborn child. 

Here are some helpful tips to help you get started on the journey to clearer fresher-looking skin that glows.

  1. Wash your face before bed every night.

Regardless of your daily routine, whether you spend the whole day outside of your home, or if you work from home, or if you just got out of bed, the skin on your face will need to be rejuvenated every night. Water is a refresher, in addition to suitable skin care products; daily washing will remove impurities from activities, and makeup, which prevents the skin from breathing.    

  1. Wear sunscreen in the sun

Wearing sunscreen is undoubtedly one of the best ways to protect your skin from harmful elements. When going out and about in your daily routine, sunscreen should be applied generously on your skin to protect it from the sun’s rays. It is noteworthy to note that sunscreen is not predisposed to particular skin types. All skin tones – fair or dark – are susceptible to the sun’s rays and should be covered with sunscreen.

  1. Soak in the bath often

A good skin scrub is a good option to soak in the bath with. Apply a generous amount before bathing. The idea is to relax while your skin opens up its clogged pores, allow it to breathe, then exfoliate it carefully afterwards.

  1. Exfoliate:  The skin on some parts of the body might be harder than in some areas. Exfoliating these hard skin areas will help open the pores and allow the dead skin to fall off, giving room for new growth. Areas such as the face, feet, knees, elbows, and heels should be given priority.
  2. Moisturize

Moisturizing the skin involves using the best tested skin products for your skin. During the winter months, it is advisable to splurge on moisturizer as much as you can, as this will prevent the skin from drying out. Also, one great tip is to moisturize at night. This is because skincare products work best when the body is relaxed at night. Hold onto a bottle of hand lotion in your purse or somewhere easily accessible to apply on your skin daily and prevent it from drying out. 

  1. Drink Water

Drinking enough water regularly will keep you hydrated and help your skin maintain a fresh looking glow.  Thirst is a sign that you are dehydrated. Drinking water helps rejuvenate the body, as the body undergoes rigorous movement throughout the day.  A drink of water can replenish your body and maintain its moisture level.   

  1. Invest in Skin Care Products

Get the appropriate skin care products for your skin type. From oily, to dry, to sensitive; skin types differ and thus require different kinds of treatment and care to maintain its inner glow. Skin care products that are made for oily skin cannot be applied on dry skin. The key is to identify your skin type and purchase the appropriate skin care products for best results. 

  1. Eat Right

Eating a healthy balanced diet contributes to great looking skin.  Avoid greasy foods, as this will clog up your skin. Also, some oils contain allergens that have been known to cause breakouts on the skin. Consume foods rich in vitamins E, D, C and A; they provide the necessary vitamins for glowing and clear looking skin.
