Summer can be a tough season to put together cute outfits. On the one hand, you want to stay cool and therefore opt for, say, shorter sleeves and fewer layers. But, on the other hand, you don’t want your simple top-and-bottom combo to feel too basic. It also doesn’t help that there are places across the country that have seen record spikes in temperatures, making it all that much harder to look cute without coming across as sweaty. Here are some summer wardrobe must-haves to help you beat the heat.

Beige Wide-Leg Trousers

Now that circumstances are moving towards a return to the pre-pandemic norm, and companies are once again returning to work in-office, a lot of people now have to reconcile professional wear with the summer heat. The beige wide-leg trouser is the perfect solution! Not only does it offer a clean and tailored, office-appropriate look, but its lightness also helps you stay cool. Pair it with a crisp white shirt and kitten heels.

Silk Cami

Silk is a breathable fabric with some moisture-wicking properties that help you stay cool and dry. By extension, the silk camisole is one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe this summer. Dress it up with a blazer for a luxe feel or pair it with denim for a more casual look.

Off-the-Shoulder

You can find off-the-shoulder sleeves in a wide variety of styles—from blouses to cotton tees, and from maxi dresses to floral midis. Off-the-shoulder sleeves can be ruffled, ruched, puffed, or even plain. Whatever style you get, you’re guaranteed a look that is both flirty and fun. Pair casual, off-the-shoulder pieces with wedge heels for a relaxed summer look, or use tailored pieces with evening-ready styles for a sophisticated cocktail outfit.

White Tee

The white tee is a year-round classic, but in the summertime is a piece that can help elevate an otherwise simple outfit. What’s more, there are endless options for white tees, from slim and oversized fits to rolled or regular sleeves. Wear under a blazer for a more breathable office look while still looking clean and tailored, or nail the classic summer look and pair it with denim shorts.

Denim Shorts

Denim shorts have withstood the test of time—and with good reason. Comfortable and cute, denim shorts can be styled in myriad ways for many occasions. Cut-off denim shorts are casual staples for a day at the beach or a picnic at the park, meanwhile, tailored denim shorts look cute with lightweight blazers for a more work-friendly outfit.

Sunglasses

In addition to providing you with UVA protection, sunglasses can be the final detail that brings your outfit to the next level. Whether you rock the classic aviator style, opt for a stunning cat-eye design, or choose something entirely different; sunglasses are a perfect accessory to help you look cool and stay comfortable when you’re out in the sun.
